(The 8th wonder of the World)

Ngorongoro Crater covers an area of 259 sq. km. It was formed from calderas (collapsed volcano). It stands 2286 meters above sea level. The surrounding crater walls are very steep rising for 610 meters from the crater floor. Only 4 wheel-vehicles are deployed in the crater floor. Animals, which can be seen, include elephants, buffaloes, zebras wildebeest, gazelles, rhinos, velvet monkeys ,hyenas and lions. The black-married lions can be seen at close quarters in their natural habitats. Prof. Bernard Grizmek was right when he described Ngorongoro as one of the 8th wonder of the world.

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.

This is the largest of Tanzanias National parks. It covers an area of 9,322 sq. km. The name SERENGETI conjures up the image of one of the last remaining wildlife spectacles on earth, vast herds of antelope, columns of wildebeest trudging along their traditional migration routes thus forming a carpet of dots escorted by their predators the hyena, wild dogs and lion. To the north, SERENGETI borders Kenya's MAASAI-MARA Game Reserve also famous for wildlife migration. In this precious sanctuary there still exist the greatest concentration of game animals found anywhere on earth.

When the grasses lose their green lush, millions of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles as well as elands and other plain animals in millions move in winding column miles and mires long. Though essentially a wildebeest affair, large contingents of other animals participate in this parade.

SERENGETI is famous for it large pride of lions ,Leopards and cheetahs are numerous as they are to be found resting on trees in Seronera valley.

OLDUVAI GORGE.

Olduvai Gorge lies between the great wildlife sanctuaries of Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti. The "cradle of man" as this stone-age site is popularly known. This is where many tourists flock to witness the works of the famous anthropologist- Prof. Leakey who unearthed the skull "Nutcracker man" or Zinjanthropus Boisei in 1959.
